In addition to the Changeover meeting 2022/23, RC Norwood have also done the following in recent weeks.
Bunnings BBQ
We had a great Bunnings BBQ on Friday, 3rd June. Though the weather on that day was not so pleasant, we still had lots of customers during event and experienced such a busy BBQ that we ran out of sausages and bread and had to buy more for continuous supply. Meanwhile, we welcomed back some recurring faces to assist as volunteers: Graham Holcroft from Magill Sunrise, Dennis Reynolds from RC Mitcham, and George Stubbs re-joined us as cooks. We also had a new face to join us: Kelvin Fu as an International student from Adelaide University Rotaract Club (AURC) served as another volunteer for this day. The overall profit was close over $900 within which $583 came to RC Norwood, which is an encouraging result as each month the profits are rising closer and closer to the $1000, the profit we usually achieved before the COVID.
Club assembly and Board meeting in June
We had the club assembly on Wednesday, 15th June, and a board meeting on Wednesday, 29th June.
We were pleased to have guests from Rotary Club of Adelaide Light to join our club assembly on 15th June: John Wotherspoon, the President, and Rob McLennan, the Membership director. We exchanged ideas about development of our clubs. Moreover, as the president of RC Adelaide Light for 2022-23, John outlined his strategic plan emphasizing community activities, happiness, engagement, and inspiration of club members, which is consistent with that of Rob Rushton-Smith, the President for our club for 2022-23 .
On 29th June, the board meeting before the Changeover took place at the Kensi. The President’s report and Treasurer’s report were provided. The important issues discussed were:
- Several critical financial resolutions were approved.
- Di summarized the change of membership including resignation from Julie and Sam, and passing away of Graham.
- Sigrid provided the updates of Water and Sanitation infrastructure construction at Muzarabani and Hwata schools in Zimbabwe,
- Sigrid proposed the plan for the next movie night, now scheduled on 21st October at the Regal Theatre where Mrs Harris goes to Paris will be shown.
- Wei informed the progress of ClubRunner website which is now ready to be published and will be under continuous update
- Euan reported the progress of Music for Dementia as well as Noelene’s advice for this project
- Interviews will be arranged for two potential candidates supported by RC Norwood for RYLA nominees: William Atkins from Magill, and Kelvin Fu from AURC
- Memorial for Graham Perrin: We plan to organise a plaque for a bench at either Richards Park or Norwood Primary School.
- Di proposed that our club could organize food for PETs orientation training and District Assembly for 2022-23. This will be further discussed in our next board meeting.
